This set of 50 Alphabet, Numbers & Colours Snap/Memory Cards is a fun way for people of all ages to begin to identify the letters of the alphabet and learn the names for numbers and colours in Awabakal Language. Students should be encouraged to say the Awabakal words as they are playing. These snap/memory cards can be used in the classroom or for personal study. These games stimulate the memory through repetition which is a very effective way of learning.

Classic Snap Game: 2 - 4 players

Have everyone sit in a circle on the floor or around a table. Shuffle the cards thoroughly. Deal out all the cards face down to all the players. Players should not look at their cards. Turn up one card, starting at the person left of the dealer. Then the next player turns up a card and so on. If any of the cards currently facing up are the same, someone may call out "Snap!" and place their hand quickly down on the pile of cards. That player that gets their hand to the pile first wins and picks up the pile of cards. Continue play. If a player has run out of cards, but still has face up cards in play, they may continue to yell "Snap" and re-enter the game. If they are out of cards entirely, they are disqualified and the game continues. Win the game by collecting all the cards from the other players.

Classic Memory Game:

Shuffle the cards well. Place 8 cards face down in a row. Continue until you have 5 rows, one under the other. The object of the game is to find as many pairs as you can. Turn over any two cards. Take the cards if the pair matches. Turn the cards back over if they do not match. Take another turn if your cards match. Play continues until all cards are matched. The winner is the player with the most cards.
